According to merriam-webster the English word fear can imply anxiety and loss of courage or profound reverence and awe especially toward God. So it is also safe to say that fear can be a great immobilizer or a great motivator. We can allow the anxiety of fear in our lives to cripple us whether it be based on experiences or be imagined. Or we can be moved by the awe of fearing God to propel us to holy living. My son recently became aware of the idea of monsters, great thanks to the Curious George cartoon on PBS. I have begun my campaign to assure him that such creatures do not exist, but only in our minds. (Yes, I am aware of the supernatural demonic realm....) Thankfully God granted me wisdom in answering these many questions my three year old fired at me. I was amazed at one question/answer session. "Monsters don't exist." "But what if they do?"
